I was with the lst cav div when it relieved the marines in the valley. They was kicked out by gen Westmoreland for not doing their duty and fighting. we had to shoot their artillery pieces, but they was froze up and had to clean them so we could fire them, they was rusted up so we could not open the breech block. they had artillery smoke rounds and he rounds lined up for a walkway so they would not get their boots muddy. and machine gun buttles laying all over the lz. they was a disgrace. it took us a week to clean up their guns and clean up the LZ.

My father was in Vietnam. He was actually in Vietnam when I was born. It is very hard for him to remember details of times, places and names of people and places. He remembers 1st Air Cav, Charlie Company and also 82nd Airbourne. He was in from '68 to maybe '70. He is acutally at a VA hospital right now trying to get some long needed help. He would love to hear from someone that may remember him. His name is Wayne Flanders. You can email me if anyone remembers him. I feel that if he could actually talk to someone that was right beside him there, it would really help!

thanks - from a daughter of a Vet (who can not even image what you all went through!!!)
