Hello,
I am trying to help my brother in law figuire out what happened to him mentally on or around 6/10-14/1970 at Long Binh RVN. He was air lifted to MHC 249 Gen. Hospital in Asaka, Japan after suffering some sort of mental break down. He does not remember very many details of the incident, but has lingering mental problems since that time. If His name is Tom B. Holland he was a specialist with the 54th Ord. Co. in Long Binh from November 1969 until early June 1970.. If you knew him in Vietnam and may have any information about his service there, it would really be helpful to him. Thank you!
Please send any information to dongillespie01@msn.com

I'd like to present my admiring to these noble efforts. As we all know, the people of Vietnam was brutally occupied by all the forign forces with no chance to build their country. So i think, it is the duty of China, Japan, France, Britain and finally US to rebuild this country again after they have destroyed before.

Hello from El Paso
I served in Vietnam for 31/2 years, from May 67 to Dec. 67, I served in 511 Pannel bridge Company at Ahn Khe, we were attached to the 18th Engineerd Bde. In Dec. 67 I was sent to Chu Lai to form the new Amercial Div. After about a month of running in circles I was assigned to E Company 26th Engineers, I stayed with them until Apr 68, I went home just a couple of weeks after Tet 68. In Mar. of 69 I went back to Vietnam and I was assigned to the same company E company 26th Engineers, I was assigned at LZ Fat City. In May-Jun. 69 right after the sapper attack were we lost half of our vehicles, I last a rank and was transfered to A Company at LZ Baldy, main duty was to clear road of mines from Baldy to Ross, did that until Aug. 69 when sappers over ran LZ Hawk Hill, the platoon I was assigned was sent to LZ Hawk Hill to reinforce the bunkers and give them some support until they sent in the 1/46 Inf. I stayed on Hawk Hill until around Nov. 69 when I was assigned to the CEV crew (007). A company's crew was assigned back on LZ Fat City, then all the CEV crews were sent to E company for control and movied to Chu Lai. I stayed on the CEV until Oct. 69 were I went home. I returned back to Vietnam in Feb. 71 in Chu Lai, they were going to send me back to the 26th engineers (this whould have been the 3rd time), I went to personel and was assigned to C troop 1/1 Cav were I stayed until Jan 72, by this time I was all Vietnamed out and I went home. If you think you served in those areas at the same time give me a call or email.
Take care Brothers
George

A scene from the past (Phu Loi, RVN Field Ofc, 8th MP Gp (CID) l971. Was dispatched to an unnamed fire base, unnamed location other than North, to investigate a shooting where death occurred. Left Phu Loi base by 334 Assault Helicopter who took the three of us to firebases that were hot. This AM I took the milk run as the pilots called it. We left prior to daylight and it just broke light when I jumped from the bird as it was not safe to touch down. I had my cams on, .38 in my shoulder holster and my tag along bag over my shoulder to keep my hands free. I ran thru the tall grass and a posted sentry at the firebase yelled for me to stop and not move. I thought he was going to shoot me. We started talking from the distance between and I was sadly informed that I was in a trip wire mine field, that had not been made safe. They (base personnel) came and got me out. The sentry on duty that saved my life was known to me. I had earlier investigated him for possession at Phu Loi. In our subsequent conversation he told me he had no hard feelings about me as I was doing my duty and the possession charge awoke him to bad things that could have happened to him. I thanked him for saving my life and he smiled and said we are now even. At this time I was a career soldier with 17 years service and my unnamed hero mentioned above was 18 years young who grew up fast. Again thanks from my family and this old retiree to that young man.

Was one of three CID Agents at Phu Loi, RVN l971.Route l3 was the road we travelled by jeep and alone wearing civs and only carrying a .38 pistol. Our AO went north to An Loc and the firebases along the way. In all those travels. I was only fired upon one time by VC. Rounds went over the top of the jeep. Put my head down, grabbed a gear and kept on going.Incoming about every night and was penetrated by VC trying to blow up choppers. The duty was good but I was glad to leave in Dec 71.The 3 of us had a small office and small sandbagged houch we lived in. Our mail came to us at Hqs, Long Binh and travelled 13 to get our mail. We hand delivered our investigative reports to Hqs also. We ate at the O club there at Phu Loi. I worked with Viet police and since I spoke french I could communicate very well with the older ones. I was still glad to catch the freedom bird.
