I have been trying to find some old friends from the 101st, I was a combat medic in Phu Bai with H.H. company ,2/506 and H.H. company 1/501 101st airborne , from September 1971 to Febuary 1, 1972 ,then went on to the 3 battalion, 1st cav. Division. My name was Luis(DOC) Garcia This is not for any service connection claim, I am just looking for a (E-5 at the time) Sgt. whose name I can not remember.I was in the last operation before the 101st stooddown , with Bravo company 1st. Battalion 501 Infantry 101st Airborne in the triple canopy of Nui Ky. On January 16th 1972 . We triped a mechanicl ambush that blew me unconsious, when I came to I moved foreward and found five wounded men. The wounded were Sgt. Atkin, PFC Jerry Morison, Sp/4 Wilmore, PFC Sallazona and the RTO whose name I can not recall. I am so sorry brothers for bringing up your names, but would like to find the name of the Sgt. that kept us together for four days until abstracted .The Sgt. was a short Mexican American from San Antonio, Texas, I was blowen up, cut up, but kept on going with the rest of the men because of the Sgt. and the unknown that awaited. If, anybody knows the name of the Sgt.,Please help get in contact with him , I want to thank him for bringing us home. This is a great site for reaching out to brothers. WELCOME HOME! AIRBORNE.

I was with the 19th LEMCO, 185th Maint Battalion, at Long Binh from April 1969 to April 1970. I arrived as an E4 63H20 mechanic, from school at Aberdeen. I was reassigned as an inspector, made E5 in July or August 1969 (15 mos.) and became the Motor Sergeant in the Fall of 1969. I went to FO school, and spent a lot of nights in the perimeter towers for the second half of my tour.
The best part of the tower duty was the 1/2 day afterward, and a trip to the steam baths.
Looking back, Vietnam was a defining point in my life. The military gave me far more than it took. My oldest son currently serves and is just now completeing
his second tour overseas.
Never forget that ANYONE who has worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces has earned his freedom, and commands the greatest respect for his or her service.

I was in VN in May 1965 I flew over with the 173rd in a C130 from Okinawa. I remembered minor details regarding getting off the C130 and joining the 3rd Battalion 319th. My nickname was ACE because of my status Sharpshooter with the M14 and then with the M16 status. If anyone remembers those days please let me hear from you...
